EMMY FASHIONS

Last night was the 60th annual Emmy Awards, to celebrate the TV shows we all watch and love. No, I didn't watch the awards. To be honest, I only try and stay awake for the Oscars, although I do love the pre- and post- shows and commentary, especially the red carpet arrivals.
Here's some photos of who showed up wearing what.

America Ferrera. I like the style on her, but I think she could've gone with some color - she's young and vibrant and can get away with it.
Brooke Shields. I love this color and her hair is just amazing.

Marcia Cross. This is one of my favorite dresses from the red carpet galleries. It's elegant, age-appropriate, goes well with her complexion and is just beautiful.

Oprah. I really love this bright color on her, but I think if I had all Oprah's dough, I'd come out in a dress made of diamonds. Or swan feathers. Or gold bars.

CLASSICS MAKES A COMEBACK

Categories: oscars 2008, fashion police, polls

Gentlemen prefer bow ties. Not quite as catchy as blondes, but it certainly holds true tonight.

Classic penguin suits are the primary trend in menswear this evening. Not that we mind. There's something very sexy and James Bond-ish about a guy in a tuxedo, and it gets us both stirred and shaken.

MADONNA OSCAR PARTY SCOOP

Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder. Fonder for parties, that is.

I hear one of the highlights of Madonna's post-Oscar party with Demi Moore and Guy Oseary, held at Oseary's L.A.-area manse, was the Le Tourment Vert absinthe. Yes, absinthe! (Yep, the strong green stuff's legal again.)

It was a great year for films of all shapes and sizes, and now it's time for me to put my money where my mouth is. It isn't easy. I'm not always content with predicting something I believe doesn't deserve to win, but hey, that's the nature of the beast. Here are my predix. You with me?

7:30 p.m.: Back in the ballroom, the Hollywood Foreign Press is still milling, the champagne is still pouring and the stars still aren't shining.

7:31 p.m.: I pick up a list of the winners by the exit door. Maybe I'll relive the excitement of the announcements and read the names out loud on the drive home.

7:32 p.m.: Or maybe I'll request that next time, under no circumstances, am I to be assigned to cover the 1980 Emmys.

TED'S TURKEY JERKY AWARDS

While the Awful Truth is off for the holidays this week, we certainly don't want to leave you in the lurch, like Madonna did with Guy when she hit Star Island (where pal Rosie O. has a pad) this week. Of course, we told you that ages ago—that the gal who used to call herself Missus Ritchie so proudly, is now—so proudly—going around as the new A-Rod bitch. But it's so the other way round, trust. A-Rod just doesn't know it. Yet.

Back to our awards. As it's the bird-basting season, decided we must reveal who has (and hasn't) been the biggest greased turkey so far this year. Just in time for all that end-of-the year trophy nonsense. Call it getting-in-the mood mayhem!

And, unlike our own year-end awards, the following dubious recipients are in no particular order, let's just consider it a free-for-all open season, OK? Without further ado, here come the turkeys who've been really big jerkys!
