6. More kids have food allergies
According to a new report, the number of American kids with food allergies has soared 18% in the last decade, with an estimated 4% of children and teens now affected.
Eight types of foods account for 90% of all food allergies; those include milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, and wheat. No one really knows why allergies are on the rise, and even the CDC did not speculate on the cause of the upswing.
