Acrylic on 18x24 Canvas Board. This painting was inspired after going to a Highway Men exhibit at the Ft.Lauderdale Museum of Art. I loved the way those guys used color. They worked with oil on upsom boards & used pocket knives, thier fingers & alot of imagination to render Florida Landscapes compositions. Alot of seascapes and Everglades scenes, with beautifully colored skyscapes. They used alot of red & yellows, oranges & blues. If you haven't seen Highway paintings check them out, they were self-taught black men & women from the south who painted in the late fifties & early sixties. Wonderful work & my painting doesn't do them any justice at all.
