DAD'S HOME PLACE

Acrylic on Canvas Panel, 11' 14. I did this painting from a snap shot of my Dad's old home place. Dad's home place or (The McGuire Home Place as it was known) was located on John's Creek before it was known as Dewey Lake in Floyd County, Kentucky. He was born and raised in this house until he had to move out when they put in the man made lake.

My Dad turned 91 on April 1, of this year, April 1 was also his mother's birthday, which he is very proud of. I did this painting in honor of his birthday.

The most challenging part for me was getting the roof to look correct with the little porch on the front.

All in all I am very pleased with how the whole painting turned out, especially the background
