9. Kids drinking more liquid calories than ever
Call it liquid candy: A study found that children and teens are gulping down more sugary beverages and fruit juices than ever before, spiking their daily total caloric intake from such drinks by 15%. The trend has experts alarmed, in part because it coincides with the rise in childhood obesity and diabetes—and it shows no sign of abating.
